Hi,
Did anybody recently(sept to Nov ) get their H1 or H4 revalidated/stamped at chennai consulate ?
Please specify any info on this subject like submission dates, RFEs, stamped dates or refusals.
Thanks

Actually, I wanted to ask the same question. I have my H-1B interview for stamping on Dec 1st, 2003. Please share the information (if you have any) for the recent months.
Thanks

usa2003,

Have you heard of any recent horror stories regarding H-1B folks being stuck in India for 2 or 3 months when the Chennai consulate does administrative processing ("FBI finger prints and criminal record checks").???

Are they still doing this administrative processing for 60 to 90 days? If yes, how many people who applied for F-1 to H-1B stamping recently (Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 2003) are having this problem?

H1B revalidation delayed cases at chennai

Hi,
Please look at the following thread
http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?threadid=100730

that is

ImmigrationPortal Forums > ImmigrationPortal.com > US Immigration > Nonimmigrant Visas > H Visas > General H Visa and Related Issues > Petition for H4 refusal

There are several of them waiting for H1B revalidation.
Since most the information that they ask for is US based(such as W2, Fed tax returns, Paystubs, client list, company info etc) I guess they can get this information so quickly and cross-verify the documents that is submitted by an applicant.

I never understood the delay in processing these cases.
Did you submit the H1 revalidation application at chennai consulate ? If not then please think again.

usa2003,
Mine is firstime H-1B stamping. I was on F-1 in USA, finished my degree and converted to H-1B last year. I am going back now to get first time H-1B stamping. I have all the W-2s, tax return transcripts, 1040NR, for all the yars I was in the U.S. Will I still have to wait for a few months there? I am scared of getting stuck up in India for a few months due to the "administrative processing" many people are talking about in these discussion forums. I have my house and car payments to make every month. If I get stuck up it will cause all sorts of grievances. Also, I am unmarried and hence I will not be applying for a H-4 dependent visa. Do you know if this "administrative processing" is mostly for H-4 dependent visas or whether it will be done for the main H-1B holder as well? Hope everything goes well for me in Chennai on Dec 1st, 2003.

Hi mvinays,

If you are going to work for a bodyshopper(as a consultant) then there might be issues such as client company, manager contact person, project duration, location etc.
As far as the first time of H1B is concerned, one other aspect is the BE Degree certificate verification.
Mostly "administrative processing" is mainly for H1-B visa applicants wherein they may want to verify the BE degree and work experience in India. I guess in your case it should not be a problem because you have a MS from US university. In several cases, they request your MS transcripts from the corresponding University to verify if you have really completed the course and attained the certificate. These verification usually take around 3 months time.
Please be aware of the new ZERO TOLERANCE policy.
Be prepared and all the best.
