if somebodyb renews and gets extra 6 months beyond 6 yrs, is that going to
be a problem or can just take it and use it. I don\'t know why INS doesn\'t
look of how much is used up.
 
Onus is on you to check 6 yrs

INS has argued that the onus of eligibility is on you. It does not cross check whether you are in US continuously or not. Because the 6 yrs can be intermittent too eating up 7 years actually in some cases.
It is upto you to use it or change to some other status like GC or AOS or EAD ... at the expiry of H1. You do not want your future petitions to be rejected later on do you?
