H1 quota question

Hi,

I filed for H1 from H4 with a consulting company today. They said they'll send my documents this Monday that is 26th of March 2007. Is that okay, if they send it that day..will the quota be closed by the time it reaches INS? I am really worried about if it is very late. Kindly advise.

it *very* likely that the quota will be reached on the first day. In this case, there will be a lottery on the cases filed on April 2nd and 3rd. So you should make sure that your petition is in VSC/CSC by April 2nd or 3rd.

Also I may add any cases received by USCIS before March 31st will not be accepted.

I have another question: what is the best time to apply for H1B? Suppose someone needs an H1B by - let's say - September 2008, when is the best time their company should apply?

H1B quota for Advanced degree

I have couple of questions:

1) For advanced degree quota is it first come first serve basis or even they will be put under lotttery when the number of applications exceed 20000?
2)As per the press release on April 5th they has sorted 27000 regular applications and around 4700 under advanced degree quota. Since I have already received my receipt number, does it mean that I am one of those 4700 applications. And if the advanded degree quota is first come first server basis, then I am already in the quota.

Please let me know if my assumptions are correct.
