H1 Quota for 2008 over?

Hi all,
I am L1 visa currently working in US and want to switch my job. For that I need to get my L1 transferred to H1. Such transfer is treated as fresh H1 application. I have got some very disturbing news from my friends that the H1 quota has been reached for next year H1 visas also. Meaning H1 visa that would be granted in Oct 2007. I had thought that accepting H1 visa applications will begin in April 2007 and it usually gets full in next 2-3 months. H1 visa are then granted in Oct2007 for FY2008.

But if this news is true then does it mean that I won't be able to apply for H1 visa till April 2008 and get one till Oct2008?

Year 2008 quota only opens up from April 1, 2007.

It may get filled up with in 2 -3 months this time. If you are planning to file your H1 , do so on or after April 1, 2007 for Y2008 quota.
