H1 query . Please HELP!

I am on OPT and it will expire on June 1st 2006. My current employer has filed for H1 2 weeks ago ( april 14th) via regular processing. . I understand that fact that i am allowed to stay in the country for 2 months grace period after my OPT. Can i legally remain in the country even though my OPT has expired and that H1 is still bieng processed?

WHat are my options?

My understanding is that you can stay legally inside the country while your H1B is pending and your OPT has expired. However, you cannot work and get paid till H1B is approved.

You should confirm this with your company lawyer.
 
I beleive what he said is right. You can legally stay in US if your h1b papers are pending. During those period you wont be able to get paid.
