h1-extension???

i checked my status of h1 renewal on the INS website..posted on March-22..they have processed upto, 02/10/2004,

my date of receipt was jan 15th, but when i typed in my number/called, it had the same old message, so should i wait for a few more days..or should i call up INS to check hat happened to my case????

just anxious!
 
Can you tell me how you can check status online. I am planning to apply for my H1B extension and debating myself between Premium Processing and Regular processing. I am trying to determine how much time it takes these days for processing. I will be applying from NJ so I guess I fall under VERMONT.
 
If you are currently in H-1B status and need to simply apply for an extension with the same employer, unless you are planning to travel internationally in the immediate future, there is really no need to spend the extra money on the Premium Processing, since timely filing the extension application allows you to continue working without an approval for 240 days beyond the expiration date of your current petition.
 
VSC is taking 5-7 months for H1 extension approval at this time. once you file H1 extension before I-94 expiry date you are in status as you will get H1extension filing reciept
