H1 extension status not found?

My company filed for my H1 extension in mid Feb 2004 and we received the receipt notice at then end of Feb. Then I asked my employer to convert it into a premium processing on March 2. On march 6 we received the email receipt notice for the premium petition. However, today when I tried to track it online, it said that this case could not be found in the automated system. Does anyone know why?

By the way, the website I used to track the status is:
http://www.immigration.com/frame/BCIScasestatonlinefr.html

Is this the right website?

Thank you for your help.

I think this is normal as I was in same situation as your and it showed after they issued RFE after 2 days. I think you should wait to see the status until they approve or send you RFE.

I had applied on the same day you had applied for premium processing ( march 2) and got my H1 approved on march 10.

Thank you for your information. As of today my online status still shows not found.

Did you receive the official approval notice by mail or did you find out the approval from online status?

What is your case received date on the receipt notice? Is it March 2 or a later time? Although my lawyer said she filed the petition on March 1 and the USCIS received my case on March 2, my receipt notice showed the case received date as March 4.

Thank you very much.

i found it on the online status. INS guarantees you some decision on the case in 15 days. If there is no decision, 1000$ are refunded, which they will never do.

Send an email address to this address with your receipt #, it is meant to be used for premium processing cases

In reference to this extension, why it needs to be premium processing. What is the difference if my company would file it as regular. My H1 would end on October 2004 but they are working now to extend it. Do you think I need also the premium processing. Please advise.. thanks

Hey,

I've the same question as arnelmacatula. My current H1b expires on September 10, 2004. I've just started working on it. By the time, I apply, I will have 4 months left. Is 4 months sufficient for H1 extension.

Or do you think, I should apply for premium processing as well.

Thanks.

Your Question

As long as your extension is filed before your old H-1 expires you are ok. I was in the same boat and had checked with my lawyer.

If one can spare $1000 for premium processing, I would suggest them to go ahead even if they have 4-6 months left on their current H1.

The reason is, $1000 is a lot cheaper than the tension and the frustration of waiting. You never know with these guys when they move the dates of what category and how long they would sit on the file.If your current H1 expires and you have not heard anything about your extension, the tension builds up.

So, pay $1000, and get over with it in 2 weeks. Even if they send any RFE, you have lots of time to reply to it and get it approved long before your current H1 expires - Tension FREE :).
