My H1 visa (first three years) expires in Nov. 2003. My employer is thinking of promoting me soon, in a month or so. They are also thinking of submitting an H1 extension with the new (promotional) position right now.
My question is - Is it possible/advisable to submit an application for H1B extension for the new (promotional) position when I don't currently hold that position, but my employer has just plans to offer that to me soon?
I would appreciate any help that anyone can provide on this matter.
