H1 Extension pending

Hi
I filed my H1B extension in July 2002 and H1 expired on Aug 30th 2002 . The case is still pending as it is taking anywhere between 6-8 months in texas. Meanwhile I am moving to a different company now. Should I file for my H1 extension again from the new company? as I am not sure whether my previous will(can they?) cancel the H1B extension petition that they filed for me.

Appreciate your advice.
 
Your previous H1 has expired. So if you try for another H1 and the current company cancels the pending H1 application you will be out of status from Aug. 2002.
One other option is to convert the current pending H1 application to premium processing. and then do the switch to the other company after approval.
