H1 extension based on approved 140

My case is as follows:

H1 notice with company x expires in April 2008.
By April 2008 I will have used 5yrs of my H1.

I want to apply for H1B 3 year extension based on approved 140 and date not current for 485 (India)

What is the earliest I can apply? Is it 6 months before notice expires?
i.e. 4/2008 - 6 months = 11/2007
