H1 Extension and Transfer

My H1 is getting expired on 25-Jul-08 , I have filled for extension and it is yet to be approved.

If I want to switch employer whether I can it now or I have to wait till my H1 extension is approved.

I am also planning to go to India during December 08 so whether it is better get my H1 extension stamped with the current employer and do a employer switch after the H1 extension stamping.

Please advice.

----------------- if you get H1 Extension approval in hand that was filed by employer A and are going to work with A after Visa stamp then get Visa stamp based on A H1 extension.
if you get H1 Transfer filed by B and approved in hand then if you are going to work with B then get H1visa based on B H1 approval.

***Visa Stamping has nothing to do with employer change to change employer you need new employer to file H1 transfer and get it approved.Visa Stamping is only to enter US.

-------------------- you have filed H1 extension through A that is pending once that is approved you can go out so that you can get Visa stamp based on employer A H1 approval.
How long will a H1 Transfer will take ?
---------------if file H1 Transfer through Premium processing then new employer can get in 15-25 days. if no PP then it can take 4-5 months for H1 transfer approval.
