H1 extension and EAD

I am currently in my 7th year H1(extension). I have my EAD. I am debating whether to use EAD or file for H1 extension renewal. I notice in this forum many have advised to stick with H1 in case 485 is being rejected. This would facilitate further stay. In my case since I am on 7th year H1, any rejection of 485 would also mean discontinuation of H1. Is this assumption right?. If so would you advice using EAD?. I appreciate your advice.

If you can get your h1 extended, go for it. The reason being, using EAD has a couple of disadvantages.

a) no h1, no travel. need AP.
b) 485 rejection puts riders on your EAD
c) You always do have the option of using EAD, when ur on h1, not vice versa.

So if there is no reason to choose ead over h1, stay with h1 and keep ead in pocket.
 
how to extend h1 and how long

I agree with you that we'd better keep a valid h1 even though keep a EAD. Which form(s) do we need to fill for extending h1 and usually how long can get answer. Thanks.
