H1 extension after 3 yrs and other ques related to that

Hi,

My H1 expires on 15th Apr 2008 (3rd yr). I am planning to visit India for 3-4mnths from Sep to Dec and return sometime in Jan.

1. Is it safe to enter US when I have only 3 mnths of H1 period on my visa.
2. What if I plan to change my company in US while I am physically based in India...will it be treated as H1-Transfer or new H1 ?
3. How safe is H1 transfer before just 3 mnths for H1 to expire. Am I being too late for H1 transfer.
