H1 expiring

Hi,
my H1 is expiring on 28th Feb 2003. I am still with my employer. Our attorney delayed a lot in filing renewal, now just incase if he doesn't file "in-time" will I:

- become out of status
- need to apply for new H1?
- Need to leave US for further stamping?
- What about the "unwritten grace period" ?

Any suggestion will geratly help me.

- Yes
-If applied within a reasonable period- No
-Depends on the approval you get. If it does not have a I94, you have to get the stamp or atleast a new I94
-Dont rely on somthing that is unwritten...
