Hi
My H1 expires in Nov 2003. I have a valid EAD until April 2004.
If I need to get H1 renewed - can I put in the application in say Jan 2004 (ie. after the expiry of the current H1). Will that be deemed as a new application
Also can I file for H1 renewal myself or do I really need a lawyer for this?
If lawyer is needed, then my next question would be for suggestions on a cheap - real cheap lawyer.
Thanks

You pretty much answered your own question. If your H1 expires, you CANNOT renew it, and it will have to be a new application.

No, you cannot file for H1 for yourself, your sponsoring company will have to get their laywer to do it for you.

Is the lawyer really necessary

Can the employer fill out the paperwork and send it to BCIS
My employer is ready to cut out the lawyer and save on the cost if possible
