H1 expiring, AOS pending

If I apply for an Adjustment of Status after marrying a US citizen, but my H1's 6 years expires before the AOS is approved, will I be out of status? How far along does the AOS application have to be in order for me to stay in status?
 
No.

You are in status , even if you are out of status you can pay fine get it rectified.

Great, thanks for the reply. As I understand it though, I can't work after the H1 expires and before I get my EAD, right?
