H1 clock reset (1 year exile) ?

I work for an American company, am on U.S payroll and in my 7th year of H1B. BUT, I have been working on a project in the U.K since May 15 2001. I have NOT set foot on U.S soil since that date. Will my H1 clock reset if I stay outside the U.S for another 6 months (until May 14 2002) ? Will I get another new 3-year H1B avatar ?

yes, if you can prove that you left the US on a particular date and reapply for H1 status again afte

 
 
But what about my current H1 status and US payroll ?

yeah, I have not set foot on US soil since May 15 2001. My UK project is sufficiently long so I can continue to stay here in the UK till next summer on a UK work permit.

BUT, my US H1 is still valid and I get paid on US payroll. Will that cause a problem in resetting my H1 clock ?
