H1 cancellation and EAD

Hi all,

I've EAD card. Also I've spent only approx 5 years on my H1B visa. My current H1 (5th year) is getting expired and I was about to request an H1-extension. Now I received a letter from my lawyer saying that my H1 will be cancelled effective immeadiately after getting EAD.

BTW my EAD expires before the current H1. H1 and GC processing are all through the same employer..

Please advice. Am I eligible to apply for H1 extension? Or can I ignore H1 and apply only EAD/AP?

My wife is on H4. Her H4 is also expiring. She doesn't have an EAD..What will happen to her status?

I had a reduction in my pay stub recently and my lawyer says
they normally cancel the H1 ( application to amend the visa to reflect the new salary) as I already have EAD/AP to avoid additional fees to INS. How much fee is required to submit H1 and H4 extension?

Whether the reduction in pay any way affect my GC? BTW I'm with the same employer who sponsors by H1 and GC processing..
