H1 beyond 6 yrs strange situation

My six yrs period of H1-B visa ends in Feb 2003. However INS has issued a validity time period till Aug 2004 during the latest H1-B renewal. I have applied for a labor certification from my current employer before the 365 days requirement. Do I still need to explicitly apply for a seventh year H1 extension or can I continue to use my current H1 till my labor is approved.

I would recommend filing for a 7th year extension to avoid any possible claim of immigration fraud. If you misstated the time that you've been in H status anywhere that could cause a problem. I'd formally ask for an extension,

Thanks Jim, INS seems to have overlooked in this case even though the dates were clearly mentioned during my H1 renewal....
