your friend has no job with company A and company A filed H1 petition for him. if he has job with A he can enter.
H1 visa stamp is not for entry to find new employer .he may be sent back from POE if discoved that he has no job. employer A may have writen to USCIS to cancell the petition for him.
do you think who lost job on H1 and were sent back or gone back can enter with valid H1 stamp??

You will be committing FRAUD if you enter the country with Company A's I-797. No employer will be willing to sponsor you without valid documentation of your employment with Company A from the time you entered the country. Don't even try. Even if you were successfull initialy, it will come back to haunt you later.
