H1 B Transfer & Extension in India

Hello all,

I am a H1 B visa holder currently residing in US. Good to see such an active forum where relevant information is provided regarding visa. Did go thru many of similar queries in the forum, but could not find something very similar. I understand this might have been answered in bits and pieces, but would request and appreciate you folks if you can clarify me on this:

My H1B & I94 is expiring on 9 Dec 2006 (today:20 Oct 06) for the first 3 year term and I will head back to India before expiry (around 1 Dec). I am not planning for extension as I will not be returning in couple of years. I am returning to the same employer's India branch who had processed my visa. I have not applied for extension/green card etc. till date. It will help if someone can clarify the following:

1. H1B Extension in India:
a) Can I get the extension done in India (after expiry of visa)?
b) Do I need to take an appointment & personal interview for extension or can it happen through drop box?
c) Approx. how much time does it take for extension in India after applying?
d) Is extension of visa in India related to available h1b quota?

2. H1B Transfer in India:
a) Can I change my job in India and get the H1b transferred & later extended in India to new employer (after expiry of visa) ?
b) Is the above transfer & extension possible even if my current employer has cancelled my H1B?
c) Is H1b transfer for job change in India related to available H1b quota?

3. Any issues I need to be aware of? Tips and suggestions

d) Is extension of visa in India related to available h1b quota? YOU CAN NOT DO EXTENTION, YOU CAN DO EXTENTION WHILE YOU ARE IN US WITH VALID I 94

2. H1B Transfer in India:
a) Can I change my job in India and get the H1b transferred & later extended in India to new employer (after expiry of visa) ? TRANSFER & EXTENTION CAN NOT BE DONE IN INDIA. (OUTSIDE USA) b) Is the above transfer & extension possible even if my current employer has cancelled my H1B?
c) Is H1b transfer for job change in India related to available H1b quota?

ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ARE VERY BASIC AND EVERY ONE KNOWS THE ANSWER EXCEPT YOU.
