H1-B to F1 conversion - pls advise

Hello,

I am currently on H1-B visa, and have been offered admission with financial aid to start grad school in Fall 2007. Could you please advise what is the best way to to convert my H1 to an F1 visa?
If I file I-539, what is the procedure, and when is the best time to file this so as to obtain the F1 visa in time to start graduate school?
Do I need to go out of the country to obtain the visa?

the procedure is - filing I-539 and all supporting docs requested in it. You should file it about 3 months in advance. You can change status as long as you are in valid status (H1B) at the time of filing. You can continue working on H1B until the adjudication.
