I recently obtained a job with a salary of around $45K per year. I would like to know the amount of taxes one has to pay on H1-B visa status. Also, I would like to know if one is eligible for tax rebates or deductions if: (1) married, and/or (2) purchase a new car. Would appreciate your replies. Thanks.

Visit IRS website to figure out your taxes. Your employer should be withholding a reasonable amount of tax, which usually is a little more than what you need to pay. Buying a car does not qualify for any kind of tax deduction in your case. Having a spouse and/or children can reduce your taxes, check IRS website.

First of all this is not at all URGENT, so kindly refrain from creating any false urgencies.

It seems U're new to the country and hence I doubt you are having other major deductions like mortgage insterest payments, so you would not itemize and hence sales taxes are out of issue.

For standard deductions and personal exemptions go to IRS site to get form 1040, 1040NR, 1040 EZ, whichever is suitable for you.

well said alren!!
Creating a false sense of urgency is not appropriate. There are people on this forum with much more serious issues.
If you did a google search, you could get tons of information on all kinds of tax information.

Exactly! This was almost a non-issue in terms of immigration.
