H1 B petition that was never used!

Hi,

My wife came into this country on an H4 visa.However she already had an H1 petition that was ready and available.She never got an oppurtunity to use it/work since the economy tanked.She completed her MS and now is planning to look for a job.Can we approach the employer and use the same H1 petition to get employed?
Do we have to file a new H1!It is around 3 yrs now.

Also if we have a kid tomorrow he will be a US citizen.Can we apply for a green card for us somehow if he is a citizen?

++++++++++++Try using the H-1 approval to get exemption from quota for a new H-1.
