H1 B Masters Degree - Approval-Transfer

Hi,
I am on OPT status currently and it will expire in May 2007.
I applied for H1B in July 2006 under masters quota through Company A. If I get it, it should be valid from Jan 2007. Now, I got a job at Company B and is about to start working.

1. How long will it take to transfer H1 from Company A to Company B?
2. In case I did not get my H1 approved for Jan 2007, is it possible to start H1 status immediately if I apply again in April 2007(in master's quota)? OR Do I have to wait till Oct 2007 for the H1 to be effective?

It depends, but I think it does not matter as you can start working immediately after you file trasnfer if you are on H1 status.

No.
If you apply in Apr 2007, it is for the next year's quota which starts Oct 2007.
Your work must be started after Oct 2007.

If my H1(starting on Jan 07) is approved, say by sep 06, can I apply for an H1B transfer starting in Jan 07 right away (while still on OPT)?

Is it necessary to show pay stubs from Company A while applying for a H1 transfer to Company B? I do not have any pay stubs with company A. Can I show unpaid leave with Company A and apply for transfer?

Also what will be my status in Jan 07 if H1B comes through?

I thought you status changes to H1B in Jan 07.

Probably. If you can not show paystub, they won't give you new I94, and then you have to get H1 stamp

Here is my situation again.

Company 'A' filed for my H1 on july 2006. My H1, if approved starts on january 2007.

I got offer from Company 'B' and stared working on OPT from Aug 2006.

I need to transfer H1 filed by Company 'A' to Company 'B'.

Questions:
1. Can I apply for transfer, say in Oct 2006, or should I wait till jan 2007 for that?
2. Can I continue on OPT after Jan 2007 since I am not working for the employer in Company 'A' who filed H1 in july 2006?

1) you need to wait.
2) you are on H1, no longer OPT in Jan. You can not work for B as H1B unless they filed transfer.
