H1 B extension with a 3 year degree please help

My husband did his 3 year Bachelors in Science from India and did Postgraduate diploma in Computer Science (1 year diploma) now he is in US from 2006 Jan till now as a programmer.He has 12 years of experience as a Programmer.Now we are applying for H1 extension in April 2010 .Will there be any problems during extension as he has only a 3 year degree ? Will USCIS accept a combination of degree and experience? Please help me
