H1-B extension @ India-VFS appt related questions

Gurus and peers,

Have applied for H-1B extension (premium processing) on Dec. 13. Need to get an appt at Mumbai consulate for H1B extension through VFS in Jan 2005. Need to be back in US by Jan 18, so I have these questions:

1. Will I be able to get I-797 by Jan 3, 2005?

2. To apply for the interview appt at a VFS center, do you have to have Notice of Approval I-797? Could you show/submit your notice of application receipt (premium processing-which assures approval in 15 days!)?

3. If you go in person to a VFS center, how many days later your interview appt would be?

Thanks,

Premium process dont 100% assure the approval. PP assure process in 15 days. [there may be query, then once query papers are reached another 15 days will be counted].

your case seems tough. I got appt. on feb, I noticed that there is no appt. date available on JAN. 2005.

I don't want to disappoint you, but trying to make you aware of situation.
so, take it possitively and act accordingly.

Thanks Nanc.

I agree with you. Although I had called VFS center in India and asked them about the appt availability. They quoted ~15 days..can be less or more if I go in person and apply for the appt. Considering all the uncertainties, I decided to postpone my India trip.
