H1 B confusion

Hi I am a masters student but a full time employee at kent state university
The university has filed for my h1 last week for premium processing but I have to attend a wedding in july in india.
I don't know much about the procedure but if i get my receipt no. for h1 filing what else will i need to take to the delhi consulate for them to stamp it in india.
Should I wait for the complete processing here? Is it a risk going to india during this time.
I am a little tensed because the trip is very short ( a week) and i dont want any complications.

Please advise.

If you are F1 and trying to change the status to H1 and to optain the H1 approval, you need H1 approval original notice to get your visa stamped in Delhi
