H1-B approved, can I enter the US before Oct 1st on tourist visa?

Hi,

My future company is applying for an H1-B for me (expedited). If it is approved, and I am back home in Turkey at the time:

1. Can I enter the US earlier than Oct 1st on my tourist visa? In August for example? And wait in the US to working in October?

2. Can I enter in August (on my tourst visa), stay for a few weeks, and then leave again. And then re-enter just before October?

-----what do you mean by expedited? Employer can file only on April 1.

----- if you have not got H1 Visa stamped and has tourist visa then you can enter as tourist and Cant work on H1 status.

I see. What if despite my explanations, the officer decides to deny my entry, would I simply be sent back and told to come back in late September on the H visa? Or would the denial jeopardize my H1B?

B-1 in Lieu of H1-B Visa. The person on B1 may be allowed to perform limited, short-term H1 work, if they comply with some very specific requirements.
