H1 and Tax

Hello there
I am on H1 visa and completed my three years in USA. Out of this
three year I worked two plus years and paid the tax accordingly, but from last couple of months I am laid off and waiting for the job
meanwhile I am not getting any salary or pay-stubs.

If I am not wrong no salary means no tax. Am I right?

Is this sort of scenario will adversely affect my green card processing or INS is not bothered to check IRS records.

Thanks in advance.

INS will check IRS record

if it suspects foul play. For example if you submit fake paystubs and INS can check based on the code on the paystub whether tax was actually remitted.
Otherwise GC wise it is a remote possibility of they checking every year's tax. Generally your lawyer might ask you to submit w-2s of past couple of years while filing for 485.
Since GC is for a future job, your past pay history will not be a crucial issue.
