I had a discussion with a colleague earlier today. He is a physician on a H1 visa. A company asked him to give a talk 2 weeks ago and gave him a check today. I am pretty sure he can't take it since he is on a H1 visa. My colleague thinks it's OK but he doubts now... Can he or not?
Since I am pretty sure he can't, my next question would be: What are his options? Can he ask the company to give him a gift card valid to a specific store instead?
