Hi,
I am on H-1 and I am getting married in Aug in Mumbai. I am planning to get registered marriage as soon as reach India, so that we get more time to get an appointment.
My question is is it ok to mention at the consulate that we got registered marriage for the sake of appointment?
The actul ceremony is later so what if the consular general ask about it?
Is it ok to tell the purpose of getting married "twice"?
Please advise
thanks,

Most likely you will be asked to show the invitation and pictures of the marriage ceremonies. Just a marriage certificate is insufficient proof of marriage.

thanks! but i will have the invitation for the traditional marriage ceremony ,and i am doing a registered marriage before that, i can have pictures that sholudnt be a problem only problem would be if he asks why there are two dates for marriage one on the marriage certificate and one on the invitation card? (this is for Mumbai consulate)
i would appreciate if you could respond
thanks,

Do you mean you are getting registered married just for visa interview appointment ? is marriage certificate needed at time to taking appointment or it can be shown at time of actual interview ?

I am in similar situation. I will be doing civil marraige as soon as i land in INDIA so but in order to take teh VISA appointment does my wife needs to present the marraige certificate or is it ok if she presents it on the day of the visa interview? As if we wait till the day we do register marraige then we wont get visa interview date till 3 more months later.....

Infact in my case i even need to do my H1B stamping....

Neone with similar situation?

Thanks,
Dubey
