I am on a H-4 Visa currently in the US. Is it possible to convert to a L-1A supposing that I qualify for it? If so, do I need to leave the country or can I apply for adjustment of status within the US?
Yes if u find a company who is ready to do a conversion from H4 to L1 it is possible. ur company will apply for it as a change of status. so u can get it without goign back to ur home country.
I do not remember exactly, but there might to be a rule that L1B applicant
has to work at the foreign affiliate at least 1 continuous year in past 3 years
or so. I do not know about L1A, but it may have the same rule, considering
the nature of L1 category.
U have to have worked with the company for a minimum of 1 yr to be eligible to apply for an L type visa. if u satisfy that condition u can change ur status without goign back to india
