H-4 RFE because passport expiring

Hi,

I just got my seventh year H-1B aproval but my wife and kid got an RFE for their H-4 applications. The reason is that their passports will expire on Nov 12th, 2005 and the H-4 extensions we filed are until Feb. 2006. (BCIS requires that their passports have to be valid 6 month beyond Feb. 2006 which gives Aug. 2006). However we cannot apply for passport renewal until May 12th 2005 (6 month before it expires). So now we are stuck. Has anybody encountered the exact same situation as us? What kind of solutions we may have in this situation?
