H-1b transfer possible in this case?

Hello,
I'm working in a company as an H-1b in Finance as a Sr. Financial Analyst, and I'm exploring the option of obtaining a position in Financial Sales in the same company (large multinational corporation). My question is: Is it possible to obtain an H-1b transfer under such circumstances? I've heard that the position I move into must be similar to the one currently held...

Put another way: Do I need an H-1B transfer at all? My H-1b is still valid for 2 more years, as long as I make the transtion within the same company, couldn't I just use the same visa? I'd still be working in Finance, just a different position.

This is all very confusing, and I'd appreciate any feedback... Thanks in advance!! :)

I dont think, that the new job has to be in similar field,.
Because the transfer in effect is a new H1, for which the new eployer has to get a new LCA etc,

The same/similar rule applies to AC21 for GC.

the only thing that will make a difference is that if you were shifting from non-profit to profit org. as that will bring quota issues.

It really dosent matter if the roles are not quite similar, my spouse shifted from one H1 to other with different descriptions.

Thank you for your response waitin_toolong!
I guess my next step is contact an immigration attorney about this. Hopefully it works!!

Thanks
