Hi,

I recently switched to a new company and they have applied for my H1-B.

Just 2 days back i was informed that BCIS has asked to produce my original degree and transcripts to process my visa. I was also told by my attorney that my originals may not be returned.

I was shocked by this. As, I had no other option I have sent my original documents hoping that everything goes well and my documents will be returned.

Can somebody tell me if they heard about this type of issue. If so, please let me know what has happened in that case.

Is it legal for BCIS to hold my original degree and transcripts and not return them? Will my H1-B visa be having any problem?

Please let me know.... It would be a great help....

Thanks

That is strange

It is ok to send your originals. Anyway even if they keep your original transcript you can always get another one. The only problem come's with the degree. They are not so cruel. They should return your documents if they are original. Do not worry. Lawyer did a screwy job definetely do not stick with him in the future.

:)
good luck!

Thanks for the info

HI,

I hope what you said will be true and they will return my documents.

I will let you know what happened, once I know.

Thanks
Sreekanth.
