Is a permit really needed? I called the Mexican consulate in Dallas and the guy I talked to said that if you have a valid US visa and you do not plan to go beyond the border region (20-25 miles) no permit/visa is required if you return the same day. Has anyone gone to Mexico for visa stamping without a permit. I have heard many people do. Specially if anyone has been to the Nuevo Laredo consulate, that's where I have an appointment next week.
