H-1B stamped from New Delhi

Just wanted to let people know that I recently(1/4) had my H-1B stamped from New Delhi. It was a smooth process. Had an appointment for 10:15, which is actually the check-in time with the security people. After that, had to stand in the line for 2 hours outside on a cold winter morning. That was no fun! Finally reached one of the windows where I submitted my DS-156, original I-797 and VFS receipts. I did meet a few people who had the wrong amounts for their bank drafts (they did not have the latest exchange rates) and were sent away to get the correct drafts made.

After everything was checked for, i went inside. Did my fingerprinting. Next I stood in the interview line. Since, I had an H-1 stamped previously, I was asked to stand in the priority line as opposed to the longer general line. Interview took 3-4 min. The guy (in his 30s) asked for my job duties and looked at my appointment letter. Asked some general questions about my US education and previous job etc. Was joking around. Then he told me that I was all set and my PP will be sent to me.

I collected my PP from a designated VFS office after 2 days( it was delayed by a day for some reason). Normally, is supposed to be next day pickup between 1-3 PM. Paid the additional Rs. 56 right there at the pickup window. If not picked up that day, it will be sent by courier to your address.

Please let me know if anyone has questions regarding the Delhi interview process.
 
Could you tell us as to how you scheduled your VFS appoiment(knowing from you post that you were in the US when you scheduled your appointment). Because currently they require you to :
1. Go to the HDFC bank and then pay the visa amount
2. After payment they give you a number and this number has to be given when you are scheduling your appointment.

I am from New Delhi, so I had my brother go to one of the designated HDFC branches and deposit the money. I had faxed him a copy of my 1st page from passport, which needs to be shown when paying the money. Then he emailed me the barcode # from the VFS receipts, which I used to obtain the appointment. Hope this helps.

1. What sort of question did the VO ask regading previous jobs?
2. Did you have a clean employement history?

Yes, I have a clean employment history. I am a chemist; so a non-IT field. The officer only asked what I did in my previous position and how long have I worked at my new job. That's it.
