I am currently on F-1. I found a job and My emloyer has filed H-1B for me. However, it\'s impossible for the H-1B ready before Spring 2001 semester starts. I am a TA at school. I want to know whether it\'s legal to work as a TA and in the company After the H-1B is ready. If not, what should I do? Thanks.

I wouldn\'t claim to be a legal expert but I think thanks to the new law (portability of H1), you\'re allowed to work for your employer (who sponsored your H1) as soon as you\'ve received the notice (notice that says that H1 papers have been received by INS) from INS.

Hi!
I am expecting an admission to Carnegie Mellon Univ,USA.However,my current employer in India has already filed my H1B papers (through a sponsoring company in the US).Do I need to stop the processing of the H1 papers before I apply for a student\'s visa (I don\'t expect my H1 visa to be approved before the joining data at Carnegie Mellon). How can I handle this situation?

any advise highly appreciated.
P.S My current employer is not likely to take too kindly to me going to the US for higher studies and loosing thier revenue for "shipping me out"..hence the need for caution!
