H-1 Transfer

Hi there:

I am a new member and was hoping if someone could answer my question which is:

If I start working in a non-profit institution such as a hospital and get a H-1 (since it is an exempt category). Can I use that H-1 to transfer to a for-profit institution such as Walmart or Walgreens? Does USCIS place any restrictions on this transfer?

I will appreciate if somebody who had any such experience could answer this question.

You need to have separate H1s for each employer. No restrictions on transfers.

Dude,

H1B has to be filed separately for non-profit and for profit institution. That means, you have to wait till the new quota opens in April 2008 to apply for H1B for for-profit companies. In my personal opinion, I dont think you'd be able to transfer your H1B from non-profit to for-profit.
