H-1 Transfer with an approved I-140

I am on my 8th yr of H-1 extension. The latest H-1 ext I got is based on my approved I-140 (PD: 09/2006). My current H-1 expires in April 2010.

Question is - can I switch employers through H-1 transfer at this point in my green card processing? If I can, would I lose my existing I-140?

What is concurrent H-1? is it something where I've two H-1s from two different employers? Would that be a solution for me if I want to switch employers?
 
If you switch employers your H1 status with the old employer ends (since you don't work there any more).

Did you file I-485 yet? If so and your I-140 has been approved more than 6 month ago, you can safely switch employers using AC21 (use your EAD).
 
No I-485 yet

No - I haven't filed I-485 so far. My I-140 was approved back in 2006.

What I am trying to figure out is that if I transfer H-1B to another employer, what would happen to my existing I-140?
 
If your old employer revokes it you have to start over and get a new I-140 with a new employer. If the old employer is willing to work with you, you might still be able to file I-485 when your PD becomes current.

Say if my I-140 is no more valid (I xfer H1 to another employer), and my new employer starts the GC process all over again, starting from LC, does it mean I would be eligible for further H-1 extensions based on new LC & new I-140 from new employer? getting complicated ..eh! :confused:
 
Sure, new LC/I-140 are just as good for extension as the old I-140, as long the conditions for the H-1 extension are met (pending for more than a year or approved I-140).
