H-1 Master's quota and multiple H-1s

Hello all,

I am a master's in Comp. Sci. student. I completed my course work last May and yet to defend my project. I will graduate by this May. I am on OPT right now and it expires in October. Can I file H-1 in the master's quota this year with a letter stating that I am done with the courses but the project is pending and I will graduate by May? I know some people who have done that last year and got accepted. But I spoke to a couple of desi consultancy people and they are not willing to file unless I complete all the degree requirements. I am also planning to file in general quota. If any company agrees to file H-1 for me in the master's quota, is it better to file in master's and general quota from the same company or different companies? Please reply. Also, if I don't get H-1 in both the quotas, what will my options be?

Thanks a lot,
Sowmya

You can file both in parallel. If you don't get an H1B you can try joining a University. There is no quota for those H1Bs.
