H 1 marrying a GC holder

I have 2 questions:

1. I have an employment based GC. If I marry a H 1 visa holder and I sponsor her for a GC does it shorten the length of time to get her a green card in any way ? If so how?

2. How does INS check at the port of entry if a B 2 visa holder also has a petition for GC pending in her favor?
