h-1 expires on new the year eve can I extend

my h-1 expires on December 31. I will file the extension on the same day ( mail it) but it wont reach the immigration till January 4 which is a monday. Do you think that it would be considered timely filed? please share with me your thoughts

Timely filed means H1 extension petition must reach USCIS Before I-94 expires.
