H-1 B visa request cancellation

I'm on F-1 visa right now and still have time on F-1 till May 2005. But I joined a consulting company and my employer applied for my H-1 visa. Now he is not interested in getting projects for me. To avoid difficulties later of not getting paid and risking my H-1 status, I want to cancel my H-1 application request.
Can somebody please tell me if it is possible without involving my employer in this?
If it is possible in some way with or without involving employer, is it going to affect my future H-1 applications?

Thanks

----- how you can join on H1 with out H1 filing by employer and before H1 is approved??. you wrote " Applied" you did not state if you got H1 approval notice from USCIS or just employer has filed with USCIS and is pending.

----- YOU canot revoke or cancell H1 petition, only employer can cancell it ( Visa= Visa Stamp in passport)
Can somebody please tell me if it is possible without involving my employer in this?
------ let the employer cancell that H1 petition or withdraw the petition writing to USCIS

Ginnu,
I don't really know anyone whom I can trust. I was wondering if an attorney here in the forum would have answer to this.

ptyagi,
Are you on practical training??
Because if you already used the H1 then your F1 is useless.
Also you have no control over the H1 petition. Your employer is the sole person who can cancel it.

BTW I don't think any lawyer will answer your questions on this forum.
