I understand that the H-1 B window for the year 2005, will open up in October 2006. I just would like to know from anyone having past experience, about the time line of receiving the H-1 after October window opens up, i.e. after how long usually a person gets approval for the H-1 Visa after the October window opens up ?

Year 2006 H1B quota will start from Oct 2005, however H1 applying for that quota, already started in April 2005. (6 months early). Already getting filled. Like Last year this year also entire quota for Y 2006 may even get exhauste on 1 st Oct 2005. If you are planning hurry up, with premimum process you will get approval within 3 weeks

Another question that I have is, how much time does it usually take after October 1, 2005, under a normal process as opposed to a premium process.

Min 90 days to maximum 180 days, some time more.
 
Another question that I have is whether the H-1 application starts getting processed only after October window (I understand October is the last day for accepting applications) opens or does it start right away it receives it ?
 
What I am basically asking is if I were to send in my paperwork within a few weeks, will the counter start from the day of the receipt or from October 1, 2005 (Even if BCIS were to receive my application in a few weeks) ?

H-1 Schedule - Notice of Receipt

How long does it usually take for the notice of receipt to arrive, once you send in the paperwork via mail to the BCIS office ?

Can somebody please give me an approximate idea on the timelines ?

How long does it usually take for the notice of receipt to arrive, once you send in the paperwork via mail to the BCIS office ?

I understand that this notice of receipt will provide me with a WAC#, which I can use to track my application from the BCIS website.
