My wife's and my 485 pending with TSC. We are palnning to go ti India in May 2004 via Amsterdam, Netherland

My sitauation: Was on H1, CHANGED JOB 9 MTHS BACK, my H1 with the old comapny is valid until March 2005. I dont have H1 with the new company and am working on EAD.

My wife's situation: Was on F1, we got married, filed I485 at the same time. Now she is working and dont have any visa...but he is woking on EAD

We both have valid I 131 (Advance Parole)

My questions:
1. Is it safe to travel abroad with this situation on Advance Parole?
2. Do we need transit visa in Netherland?
3. What documents should we carry with us when we travel to India?

My friend had approved H1(second renewal) but was not stamped on passport. The current H1 had expired. He was going to India for stamping. He was not allowed to board plane. He had to take transit visa. Better safe to get a transit visa from Netherlands embassy/consulate. It cosys around $10 but saves a lot of headache and last minute rush ( a waste of money and time).

Please check with airline but not all staff know this. Also not al employees at consulate know all the rules in every situation. It does not harm to be prepared.

My wife just reached india via Amsterdam. (3/15/04)
She didn't get transit visa. Her h1 has also expired. She is going to get it revalidated in india. There is no need of transit visa for
Amsterdam. Chcek this url www.netherlands-embassy.org. they have information about whether you need transit visa or not.

Transit not required via Amsterdam

My wife is going to India on AP and she does not have any valid visa on her passport. I called the northwest airlines and they confirmed that transit visa is not required. You can call them or visit their website at www.nwa.com. I checked with the travel agent at www.myowntrip.com and they confirmed too that transit visa is not required via amsterdam if you are on indian passport.

Please confirm again and let me know if it is required.

Thanks
