GURUS - Refund on EAD possible?

I visited a DO in the last week of April to inquire about the status of my AOS which I had been interviewed two months prior. An immigration officer (not receptionist) told me that I was in the process of getting security clearance and had no other update. She saw my ead which would have expired in 3 weeks and told me to renew it. I wasn't planning on renewing it since I had been working for 6 years on my SSN and SS card alone, filed taxes, etc and never go into trouble. She said I could get into trouble or fired if I didn't so I decided to file online for renew. I got approval email and welcome letter about a week later. Went back to DO (Federal Plaza) and got my passport stamped. My question is: Was anyone or have you heard of anyone who sucessfully got their $180 application fee for EAD refunded? Has anyone tried? What were the results? What if I call my credit card company and dispute it? Would that effect my Green Card (received) and LPR status? Should I kiss that money good buy? Or there is any chance? The approval was so soon that was probably virtually no processing done on that case.

I don't know if anybody tried to get a refund, but the way I know USCIS...your chances to see your money back are...slim to none. ;)

But you can try and if you're successful you can teach others how to do it...I'm sure it will be a wave of requests for refunds :D

I am pretty sure all the fees paid to Immigration are non refundable no matter what the outcome.

It does cost a lot of money to process these applications and that's one way they pay for it. Anyway, you could have gotten fired for not having EAD which would have cost you more. So I suggest you just suck it up.

I'm not sure you could actually get chargeback from the CC, as you agree that the fees are non refundable once you submit the application.

when you send in the aplication... the instructions say the fees are non refundable... so i dont think they will return any money. HTH

Think of it as the price you paid to get your GC for having worked without authorization all these years ;)
