I applied my 485 in VSC & I got my 485 receipt. Now I am
planning to apply EAD & AP. My questions are:

1) Can I apply for my EAD & AP on my own? My company\'s
lawyer said that I can do it on my own in local INS office.
BUT I want to apply for my EAD & AP at VSC since the local
office is taking 6 months for EAD & AP processing. Can I do
it?

2) Do I need any letter from the company to apply at VSC on
my own?

Please help. TIA

yes you can do, download the forms from the INS website and send them with a check for application fee.
You can find all the details in the ins site

for your AP, you may need a letter from the company...

saying that you (and family if applicable) need to travel abroad.

Why is it taking so long at your local INS?

Are you sure it takes 6 months to process EAD and AP at your local office? We got 485 receipts and EAD from VSC but went to the local INS for AP. We got it on the spot. I don\'t think you need a company letter to get AP. Just put in writing that you want to take a trip abroad. At least that\'s what we did. But again, maybe local offices have different policies. I\'d suggest you call them to find out. Good luck.
