RFE for Birth Certificate

An RFE is being issued for Birth Certificate. The RFE says if the birth certificate not available provide a statement from the authorities in India verifying that document is not available & the birth was not registered. Do we need to get this certificate only from place I was born or any authority in India can issue it.

Thanks

It has to be from the district which has jurisdiction over your place of birth. At least thats what I was told by my lawyer.
Hope it helps.

Birth Certificate

There was a fellow who recently posted something about get a non-availability certificate from the authorities. Use the search feature on 'birth certificate' and you should find the posting.

Did you send affidavits from your parents in place of the bc?

HI Manjit!

YOu have to get a "No record certificate" from the local authority (Muncipal corporation etc)--the proceudre is that you have to apply for a birth certifcate knowing fully well that there is no record. They will then search their records & issue you this certificate which again maybe in local language & you will have to give the original along with the tranlated copy.

You will also need two affidavits for birth proof which I hope you have got them.

Hope this helps!
